day -1

Uneventful...that's the word of the day, and we like it that way. Camryn is starting to hit the lull that comes before transplant and lasts until engraftment. She is pretty tired today and resting...it's okay to see her this way as it is expected. Her appetite is pretty non-existent...we did manage to persuade her to try a Popsicle, so that was a step in the positive direction.

Camryn is on her IV fluids to keep her hydrated and her cyclosporin (anti-rejection meds), so far she's been doing alright. She is pretty sleepy, she napped for a long time this afternoon which was much needed. Thankfully they held off giving her benadryl so that maybe, hopefully she'll sleep tonight. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

The highlight of the day was a visit from Joanne...our very bestest friend from Cedars. Joanne is a very special friend to us as she walked some very dark days with us...she is our friend and we love her so. It was nice to sit and chat with Joanne like we used to...nice to chat with someone who understands the journey. The Lord truly blessed us today with a visit from Joanne.

We also found out today that Wyatt's surgery time got moved up to 7:30am tomorrow morning...so Daddy and Grandma Mikels will be bringing him down nice and super early in the morning. Wyatt is getting to bed early, hopefully...I just talked to Jason and he asked Wyatt what he is doing tomorrow to which Wy replied, "going to the doctors to give Camryn my juice..." So he gets it in his limited two-year-old understanding...praying for Wyatt tomorrow...

Camryn's nurse brought in a monitor for tomorrow, of course Camryn is all about the details and asked what that was for...her nurse explained that it is for tomorrow. "Do you know what tomorrow is?" she asked..."Yes, Wyatt is giving me his juice..."

And that's as simple and complicated as it gets...

Very simple in their understanding...very complicated in our understanding. We know that starting tomorrow all eyes will be on Camryn through everything...everything. Watching for anything, any sign of anything....

Tonight I feel a very strong sense of relief and dread...relief that tomorrow is here. We've had quite a build up to this day...we knew in February that we were headed to transplant and now we are here. We are here...Camryn's ready, Wyatt's ready...

Dread...in the what ifs that come afterwards...the amazingly long list of things. But, the doctors are so great in trying to assure us that Camryn did so well...she can do it again!

Praying for her little body...fight little one, fight.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers...tomorrow is a big day and I promise to update tomorrow.

Tomorrow is DAY...and the peace comes knowing who holds DAY.

HE is there....

Just caught up with your last 2 posts and can only imagine how you must be feeling. What a gift that Wyatt can be the perfect match for his big sister. I hope that it all goes well for him and that you hold up okay seeing him get wheeled off for the harvesting.

I hope that Camryn's body is strong and handles the transplant just as well as it did last time and that her tummy troubles get better soon and everything goes smoothly.

I will be saying a prayer for this special family that I have got to know through the amazing blogging world.

I will be praying for you guys as I lay in bed tonight and will fall asleep talking to God about sweet Camryn, Wyatt and you guys. And tomorrow you four will be in my thoughts and prayers all day and I promise to pray whenever I think of you... it will be continual. I wish I could be there to sit and pray with you, but know that we are walking this road with you from Ohio and praying, thinking, laughing and crying with you. I will be checking for updates often tomorrow...

Happy Juice Day!

Praying for you all today!!

Heavenly Father, I pray now that you make Yourself known today to this family in so many ways! Be their source of strength and peace.
Be with Wyatt on this big day - his little mind can only comprehend so much - and we are thankful for the understanding and strength that this little guys shows! Give mom and dad strength as they endure - surround them with family and friends who will be there as never before. Guide the doctors and nurses today - give them wisdom and gentleness. Give Camryn's little body peace as it prepares for this next step. Continue to be there and help her through the next 100 days and beyond!!
We trust you Jesus to be there today and always. We trust that you have all of this in Your hands and that you hear our prayers and know our hearts. We know the Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we can't express the groanings of our heart and carries them to the Father. We know Lord that You are in control - and that you love us and are with us. Amen and Amen for that!
